On May 1, 2024, SamaraCare, joins forces with Summit Clinical Services (“Summit”), a prominent mental health practice based in Wheaton, IL The new combined organization will operate under the SamaraCare name as a nonprofit, and maintain the mission to “foster emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being through access to affordable life-changing care”. SamaraCare views the integration as purposeful and positive growth, consistent with its strategic plan as both organizations are guided by similar core values and goals.
This union will expand SamaraCare’s service territory in Wheaton and central DuPage County. It will double the number of SamaraCare in-house psychiatrists and enable SamaraCare to meet the ever-increasing demand for these services. In addition, six therapists and several administrative staff will become part of SamaraCare’s team. This will supplement SamaraCare’s capacity to respond to the ongoing soaring demand for counseling services.
More than half of U.S. adults with a mental illness (55%) are not getting treatment, according to a recent study by Mental Health America. That’s more than 28 million adults without the mental health care they need. That’s why SamaraCare will remain committed to making its services more affordable and accessible through its Mental Health Access Program (MHAP). Funded by donations, this program provides reduced cost counseling and psychiatric services to the uninsured, underinsured and those facing financial hardship. With more and more people requiring these vital services, the MHAP continues to be a high priority initiative as SamaraCare grows and expands its service area.
The combined organization will remain committed to delivering high quality counseling, psychiatric and autism services to its clients as it consolidates the strengths and expertise of both organizations. With a more impactful market presence, the organization anticipates greater opportunities for increased funding and grant consideration.
SamaraCare will retain Summit’s Wheaton office and the new organization will have nine client locations throughout Chicagoland. Summit clients can continue to contact and work with the same providers as they have in the past. All the services Summit clients have received will continue to be offered by the combined organization.
