Our staff was asked to share words of wisdom with a confirmation class. Here is what they had to say!
- Be nice
- Be humble
- Be determined
- Dedication and persistence pays off
- Don’t take yourself too serious . . . no one else does
- Be respectful of everyone!
- There’s a lot of smart people . . . it’s better to be wise
- Have fun . . . but being responsible is just as important
- Your parents are smarter and wiser than you’re probably giving them credit for. Listen!
- Have patience with people
- Have a sense of humor
- Forgive yourself
- Listen to good advice
- God gave you two ears and only one mouth for a reason . . . and only of them can be closed!
- Stay out of debt
- Listen to your parents
- Say ‘please and thank you’
- Get an education
- Learn everything you can
- Failure means newness – new ideas, news dreams, new opportunities, new….
- Try not to predict or expect your life to be a certain way. It’s important to always be learning, have ideas and dream, but also have fun and be patient during your journey.
- Find a mentor and a role model. Someone you aspire to be like and learn from their mistakes and accomplishments
- It’s never too late. (Fill in the blank . . . whatever your regret/whatever new dream you have). It’s never too late.
- It’s OK. Relax. God will provide people to help you process all that’s happened so far in a way that makes sense. You’ll get to a place in your life where all you’ve experienced will help others know they can make it through too. You’re a miracle. God’s chosen healer.
- Imagine how different you would be if you learned to fully trust in life. You will come to see with time and experience that whatever you thought were ‘good’ or ‘bad’ happenings, was actually perfect for you at that time; and so it all really, truly is good.
- Look forward to it, but don’t count on it
- Remember to always be wise enough to ask for help
- I’ve tried to never regret. Look back and understand. Learn some life lessons, gain some wisdom but give yourself grace. You did what you did at the time . . . move on
- Always keep something in your life that you are passionate about, even if other people think it’s silly, outdated or weird.
- If you’re afraid of something it’s a good idea to move toward it instead of away from it. Fear and apprehension keep us from many passions in life.
- May your choices reflect your hope not your fears – Nelson Mandela
- Be kind whenever possible. It’s always possible
- Social media has given us this idea that we should all have tons of best friends when in reality, if we have one or two really good friends if we are lucky!
- Embrace the power of failure rather than the fear of failure.
- Slow down. Be still. Don’t rush through life. There is rich wisdom the Lord wants to share with you in the silence.
